John Isner defeated Andy Roddick, 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 7-6. It’s the biggest upset so far in the men’s draw.
Roddick, the no. 5 seed and top American male, ends another Grand Slam with disappointment, albeit much earlier than most would’ve expected. Isner will advance to Round 4 of the 2009 US Open.
